Five Things to Expect on Sydney Surf to Turf Day

The Sydney Everest Carnival kicks off in style with Sydney Turf To Turf Day at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Here are five things to expect on the opening day of the Sydney Everest Carnival:

1. Peacock Lounge opens in the Winx Stand

A fresh new destination has arrived in the Winx Stand, Royal Randwick this Sydney Everest Carnival. For five days only the Peacock Lounge will be the place to be and is open to all racegoers. Guests will enjoy premium food including Yum Cha and a Prawn and Water Chestnut dumplings devised by celebrity chef Hayden Quinn, with nothing over $15 per serve.

Taking centre stage is the impressive James Squire bar which will be serving beers and bubbles all day. There will be a rotation of epic DJs bringing the venue to life all alongside great racing action trackside.

DJs and set times:

  • Gabriella Spritz – 10.30am-1pm
  • Frames – 1pm-2.30pm
  • DJ Convertible – 2.30pm-4pm

2 Thrilling Racing

The great action on the track is headlined by the $1 million 7+ Sport Stakes (3.55pm) which features star galloper Fangirl. There is also two Group 2 races in the Yarraman Park Shorts (4.35pm) with many TAB Everest hopefuls lining up as well as the Group 2 Darley Tea Rose Stakes (3.20pm) for the fillies. See full fields.

3 Delicious Eats

The Peacock Lounge will be serving up a great food selection including a delicious Yum Cha food offering, serving up cult-favourites like steamed pork buns, satay chicken skewers and lobster spring rolls, as well as the must try item on the menu, the Prawn and Water Chestnut dumplings devised by celebrity chef Hayden Quinn.

There will be a variety of food outlets on the day to ensure everyone’s taste’s are catered for. Look out for the Smoke House in General Admission serving up some of the favourites including the Spicy Texas Brisket Sandwick ($18) or add a James Squire Chef Blend Pale Ale for an additional $6. 4 Dance the Day Away with Teddy Cream

The party continues after the last race with one of the most exciting acts in the electronic music space. Teddy Cream is set to light up the dance floor with some of his favourites to finish off the day. You will find him performing on stage in the Theatre of the Horse from 5.30pm. 5 Expect great Fashion

While celebrating and acknowledging traditional fashion initiatives, the Australian Turf Club aims to embrace both the evolving digital landscape, and the evolution of racewear styling through Fashion Stakes.

Ticketholders are encouraged to find a Fashion Stakes mirror or hashtag and post it to their socials with #FashionStakes for a chance to win a range of prizes on the day and feature on the big screen trackside. Add a touch a red to your outfit.
