Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said Rosehill Gardens again hosts Hill Stakes Day as an extra feature Spring raceday at the racecourse.
“Saturday’s fields are again full of quality horses as the ATC and Racing NSW continue one of the most successful Everest Carnivals yet,’’ Mr Ramdhani said.
“The $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes has attracted a capacity field along with a number of emergencies as it establishes its place on the Sydney Spring calendar.’’
Pericles for James Cummings and Nash Rawiller and Royal Patronage for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with jockey Tim Clark opened joint $3.70 TAB favourites in the Toyota Forklifts Hill Stakes.
Third favourite is Kovalica at $4.80 for champion trainer Chris Waller – looking to win the race for a record seventh time – and jockey Zac Lloyd.
First, second and third favourites have won 17 of the past 20 runnings of the race.
In the $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes, Gringotts, a luckless second last start, opens a $4.20 TAB favourite for jockey Tommy Berry and the Ciaron Maher stable.
Encap, a winner of two and placed three further times at the track, is at $6.50 for trainer Gary Portelli in a highly-competitive betting market in the 17 horse field, and six emergencies.
The Group 2 $300,000 Canadian Club Roman Consul Stakes, which has a stellar honour roll of multiple Group 1 winners, has again attracted a crack field.
Golden Slipper runner-up Coleman for trainer Matt Laurie and jockey Kerrin McEvoy opens a $3.70-$3.50 TAB favourite ahead of the unbeaten Michael Freedman filly Spirit of Wealth ($6-$5 TAB) with Tommy Berry aboard.
Gatsby’s for Waller and jockey Josh Parr is also at $5 TAB.
